Proving that the sign on the right is indeed correct (Trains run in either direction), 141111 heads smokily away from the camera at Brightside on 16 February 1991 with the 09:15 Huddersfield to Sheffield service. The end of Brightside station's platform can just be seen in the foreground. The opening of nearby Meadowhall station just a few months before this picture was taken, drastically reduced the number of trains stopping here. The station closed completely in 1995.
