A train of Central Line 1962 tube stock with 1532 leading waits at Epping on 22 July 1993, while the crew enjoy the sunshine on the platform bench. The train would shortly be working to West Ruislip. These aluminium bodied units lasted on the Central Line until 1999. At this time the line carried on past Epping to the remote London Transport outpost of Ongar, deep in the Essex countryside. However, virtually all services except in the morning and evening peaks terminated at Epping, which as can be seen from this view hardly has the look of a typical busy London Transport tube station. |
