An unusual visitor to the Basingstoke area on 25 September 1988. Jaffa Cake liveried Class 411 4-CEP 1574 leaves Basingstoke station with what is presumably a shuttle service to the nearby Winchfield 150 rail event. Although 4-CEPs were common in the Basingstoke area a decade later, they certainly weren't in 1988. Just visible in the distance, to the left of the signal box, is Nederlandse Spoorwegen liveried Class 77 1.5kV DC electric loco 1502 Electra. |
