165003 glints in the last rays of the setting sun, as it passes Ascott-under-Wychwood signal box on 11 April 1995 with the 1F79 17:45 Worcester Foregate Street to Paddington service. This is of course a stranger to the Cotswold Line, being a Chiltern Line Class 165/0, rather than one of this route's normal Class 165/1s. In 1993 there was a downturn in traffic on the Chiltern route (inconceivable now), and 165001 - 165007 were transferred to the routes out of Paddington. This involved having their London Underground tripcock equipment removed. All these 165/0s had returned to the their intending Chiltern role by 2004. |
