Under an impressively dark and menacing sky, brand new 165029 passes Shottesbrooke on 26 March 1992 with a Paddington to Oxford crew training run. This unit, along with several other three car Class 165/0s, would spend the early part of the year on Thames Valley duties, pending the delivery of the route's designated Class 165/1s. Note that even as late as the early 1990s, the lineside is remarkably neat and free of vegetation. It wouldn't last!
