In the days when the Chiltern Mainline was still largely a single track railway, 165035 approaches Ardley Tunnel on 5 November 1994 with the 08:30 Birmingham Snow Hill to Marylebone service. With the takeover of the route by Chiltern Railways a couple of years later, the line would see massive investment, including complete re-doubling of the track. Although new units also arrived (Class 168), over a quarter of a century after this picture was taken, the entire Class 165/0 fleet is still operational on the line. |
