Transition time at Oxford on 16 August 1997. Part of the former goods yard has been fenced off, and work has started on converting it to a car park. In the background 165101 leaves the station with the 10:03 Oxford to Paddington Thames Trains service. There always used to be complaints about the scrapyard that occupied the goods yard site in latter years, and how it wasn't a very good advert for Oxford for passengers arriving from London. Presumably that is why the plywood fence has been erected, to hide the equally ugly Portakabins from view! |
