165121 arrives at Ascott-under-Wychwood on 6 June 2011 with the first train to call at the brand new up platform. It is the 2E92 06:51 Worcester Foregate Street to Oxford First Great Western service - the only train of the day to use the station. This was the inaugural day for the section of reinstated double track between here and Charlbury. The commencement of the new trackwork can clearly be seen by the transition from old to clean ballast in the background. In addition to the new platform, the level crossing barriers have been replaced and better access has been provided to the original platform (on which I am standing to take this picture). Also, for the first time a proper car park is being provided. |
