The old order at Islip, long before Chiltern Railways upgraded the route, and reinstated the double track. 165132 approaches the station on 8 April 1995 with the 2C37 11:51 Bicester Town to Oxford service, one of just a handful of trains on the line at this time. The track was still laid with vintage 95lb per yard bullhead rail, and the connection to the oil depot was still in situ. Latterly the oil depot supplied aviation fuel to nearby USAF Upper Heyford, but that had closed the previous year. Unfortunately I never did see an oil train at this location. |
