165136 passes Kidlington on 4 June 2009 with the 15:07 Banbury to Oxford First Great Western service. Although Kidlington has a population of over 14,000 it does not have a railway station. The original station closed in 1964 and although the village has grown considerably since then, it seems a little odd that this train has called at Kings Sutton, Heyford and Tackley, all of which retained their stations despite being much smaller settlements even in 1964. The bridge in the background carries the Kidlington to Thrupp footpath. |
