166203 & 166215 pass Chilson on 9 August 2016 with the 2Z22 06:24 Worcester Shrub Hill to Oxford GWR service. Extensive engineering works at Hinksey closed the main line for two weeks from the end of July. This was in order to install a new culvert, replace bridge decking, and raise the track by 650mm, all in an effort to prevent flooding, a problem which has affected the Hinksey area since GWR days. Through Cotswold Line trains were replaced by units, in this case a pair of Class 166s deputising for the normal 1P19 05:28 Hereford to Paddington HST. Pairs of Turbo units are not at all common on the Cotswold Line, and to get a pair of the blue First Great Western interim liveried sets was a definite bonus. |
