During the two week closure of the line at Oxford from late July 2016, Turbo units returned to the Great Western Mainline, having not normally been seen on the route since the abortive Oxford to Bristol direct passenger service, that operated for a few years from 1998. While those trains were operated by two car Class 165s, the 2016 workings were Class 166s, running as empty stock. 166208 approaches the site of Ashbury Crossing, Shrivenham, on 9 August 2016 with the 3W38 10:35 Reading Traincare Depot to Worcester Foregate Street GWR ECS. |
