168001 heads north from Banbury on 5 June 2016 with the 1G12 08:15 Marylebone to Birmingham Snow Hill Chiltern Railways service. The immediate foreground was once the site of the junction for the Oxfordshire Ironstone Railway, which lead to the quarries at Wroxton, with the line curving away to the right through what is now the wooded area behind the train. There was also a line into the aluminium works, which was situated just a few hundred yards away, near Hardwick Farm. The track into the factory was lifted in the 1950s, and the line to Wroxton closed in 1967. |
