Prior to Connex deciding on a new livery in 1997, several EMUs were turned out in this plain white 'livery'. Class 421 4-CIG 1831 passes the freightliner depot at Millbrook on 15 April 1997 with the 09:17 Victoria to Bournemouth (via Worthing) service. This train had started out from London with a pair of units. The train was split at Worthing, with the other unit going on to Littlehampton.
