20301 & 20302 get under way from the Albion Chemicals works at Sandbach on 16 April 1999 with the 6C20 14:15 Sandbach to Sellafield nitric acid tanks. It was well worth the wait in the drizzle for this now historic picture, with the train's point of origin directly behind the locomotives, although admittedly mostly obscured by the then brand new 56 megawatt gas turbine power station. The acid was used at Sellafield to dissolve spent nuclear fuel rods. |
