220004 leaves Oxford station on 28 January 2026 with the 1V85 08:35 Newcastle to Reading CrossCountry service. On the left work is underway to install new track for Oxford's fifth platform. The point on the down line has already been installed, with the track currently ending at the barrier in the foreground. A line of sleepers then extend towards the Botley Road underbridge, which is shortly due to be replaced, allowing the track to be laid onwards towards the new platform. This whole project is running several years late.
