Class 442 5-WES 2405 rounds the curve at Pirbright on 21 March 1992 with the 12:45 Poole to Waterloo Network SouthEast service. It's a real pity that just a single driving vehicle is all that survives from this class of 24 units. Directly behind the train is the Basingstoke Canal, which was built in 1794 to connect Basingstoke with the River Wey Navigation at Weybridge.
