Class 442 'Wessex Electric' 2409 passes Potbridge with the 14:45 Waterloo to Poole Network SouthEast service on 16 March 1990. Utilising Mk 3 coach bodies with traction equipment from redundant 4-REP units they were a strange mix of ancient and modern, but at the time provided a quantum leap in speed and comfort on the West of England third rail routes.
