Class 442 5-WES 2413 approaches Southampton on 2 December 1998 with the 09:41 Poole to Waterloo South West Trains service. Despite using electrical equipment salvaged from vintage Class 432 4-REP units, the 442s despite initial teething troubles, turned out to be one of the most reliable classes of EMU, and certainly on of the best for passenger comfort and ambience.
