Class 442 5-WES 2420 leads an unidentified classmate across the River Test, as they approach Totton on 9 April 2005 with the 10:35 Waterloo to Weymouth South West Trains service. Although now adorned with a new livery, this was during the class's first period of use on the national network, prior to being withdrawn, reinstated, withdrawn again, and yet again put back into service. On the extreme left of the picture is one of the two original narrow bridges that crossed the river, prior to the building of the A35 dual carriageway, which now dominates the middle distance. |
