A rainy day at Oxford on 24 March 1984, but a now historic view of the remains of Oxford Shed (81F). 31260 is parked next to a section of brick retaining wall, that is all that remained of the original Oxford, Worcester & Wolverhampton Railway shed. The only other major feature of Oxford's steam shed in the 1980s was the water tower seen on the left. At this time the site of the shed was still used as a fuelling point, hence the fuel oil tanks. All of this has now disappeared. On the right, on the opposite side of the main lines, a pair of DMUs are stabled in the up carriage sidings, with a Class 119 unit nearest the camera. |
