A classic Southern Region scene at Faversham on a dull and damp 21 December 1991. Class 423 4-VEP 3175 leaves the station with the 09:20 Victoria to Dover Western Docks Network SouthEast service, passing the carriage sidings, with their miniature concrete platforms. 3449 is another Class 423 4-VEP, while 1504 is a Class 411 4-CEP. Faversham station is a little distant from the old centre of the town, and is nearer what was once a separate village of Preston, although of course now the town has grown out to meet the station! St Catherine's Church, Preston-next-Faversham can be seen in the background. |
