Terrible lighting, but what a rare working! Apart from railtours, triple headed Class 33 worked trains were extremely unusual. 33030, 33114 & 33026 pass North Perrott on 6 July 1991 with the 1O41 16:22 Exeter St Davids to Waterloo Network SouthEast service. The three 33s had not arrived as a triple header, but were being worked back together, presumably to save a light engine movement. Several attempts were made at Exeter to connect up 33026, but the multiple working equipment obviously wasn't used to three locos being joined, so in the event it was dead in tow, with just the two lead locos powering. Despite looking directly into the sun, it was definitely worth recording this unusual event. I believe 33030 & 33026 were detached at Salisbury. |
