Even though the Speedlink network had finished a few weeks earlier, this wasn't the only Class 37 hauled wagonload train seen here on this day, as an hour later 37009 passed by with the 6M79 15:08 Eastleigh to Crewe Basford Hall MoD stores. Note how overgrown the yard in the background is, as this was long before it became the import ballast and engineering centre that it is now.
