37120 passes Walton Well Road, Oxford, on 23 August 1985 with what is presumably the very late running 1A10 06:00 Hereford to Paddington service, with the 37 substituting for whatever loco had failed earlier on in the journey. Passengers waiting for this train at Oxford had received some even rarer haulage, as 25042 had been summoned from a Derby to Old Oak Common ECS, to form a relief train to London. That train is well documented, but I can find no mention of 37120's exploits on this day. What else could it be, with the right stock, and over an hour after the non-appearance of the Hereford train, it can't be anything else. If any haulage bashers managed to find out that 37120 was on this train, I bet they couldn't believe their luck, until they found out that a Class 25 had worked 'their' train from Oxford to London! |
