The sun is setting at Miskin on 28 July 1991, as 37138 rounds the curve near the M4 motorway, and crosses the River Ely with the Pathfinder Tours 1Z81 16:29 Onllwyn to Liverpool Lime Street 'Vulcan Valley Venturer' railtour. This was running 80 minutes late. In those pre gen days, waiting at the lineside as the shadows increased and the sun got weaker, with no idea what was happening, the big question was when to give up and go home. I cannot remember now, but looking at the lighting, that decision cannot have been far off!
