Shropshire pastoral. With the Long Mynd and Wenlock Edge dominating the background, 37207 passes the 13th century Stokesay Castle with the 10:38 Margam to Llanwern steel train on 27 May 1996. Due to engineering work in South Wales, this normally short working was diverted via the Central Wales line and had to reverse at Craven Arms, which on the original 6x7 transparency can clearly be seen at the end of the straight section of track on the left, over a mile away. Some of the other diverted steel trains on this day were worked by pairs of Class 37s, which would have been a little difficult to fit in that gap in the bushes! |
