The Cotswold Line has seen a dramatic increase in freight activity in recent years, but only on the northern section of the route. The use of Long Marston depot as a storage site for various types of passenger and freight stock, has seen plenty of loco hauled activity on the Worcester to Honeybourne section of the Cotswold route. In complete contrast, the southern section has been effectively banned to freight trains for many years. However, during the early 1980s sporadic freights did traverse the Honeybourne to Oxford section. Such was the case on 21 June 1984, when 37276 worked a Long Marston to Acton Yard MoD special, seen here passing Lyneham. The following year the loco entered works for electric train heat conversion, emerging as 37413. |
