37308 passes Melksham in superb late evening light with the Daylight Railtours 1Z30 Minehead to Alton railtour on 27 July 2002. The tour had worked down to the West Country from Didcot behind GWR 4-6-0 6024 King Edward I. Improving weather in the evening and the prospect of a picture of a loco hauled train on the little used line through Melksham was too good an opportunity to miss. The problem was finding a spot that wouldn't be totally in shade so late in the day. Luckily this spot was clear, but the sun is so low that even the bank of tall grass in the foreground would be starting to shade the track if the train had been running any later!
