37384 is pictured here during one of its many movements by road between being stored unserviceable in June 2000 and eventually being scrapped at European Metal Recyclers at Kingsbury in November 2005. The location is Junction 16 on the M6 near Crewe and 37384 sits unattended on the back of a low-loader on 9 February 2002 after an overnight break in its journey between Wigan and Brush Traction at Loughborough. As can be seen by the hastily applied number, 37384 only received this final classification at the very end of its life, spending the previous two decades as 37258. The loco may look in bad condition from this side but the other side was even worse with several sizeable rusty holes in the bodywork. |
