A wood pigeon has a lucky escape as DB Schenker's only two operational 'tractors', 37401 & 37670 St. Blazey T&RS Depot pass Alstone with the Pathfinder Tours 1Z37 05:30 Crewe to Parkandillack 'Cornish Parker' railtour on 16 May 2009. The fortunate bird can be seen in front of 37401's number desperately trying to get out of the train's way! I was working to plan B here, as the original intention was to photograph this train from the footbridge at Up Hatherley. However, as I drove towards Cheltenham I could see a few holes developing in what had been a complete blanket of thick cloud. As the Up Hatherley location would be useless if the sun came out, I went straight to this spot just north of the station, and amazingly the sun did come out for a few minutes. The tour was running twelve minutes early at this point and consequently a following Cross Country voyager came to a stand just past this spot, waiting for the tour to clear the station. |
