In 2003 37402 Bont Y Bermo was repainted into this non standard livery based on the Railfreight triple grey colour scheme. Just a couple of days after its return to service on passenger duties in the Welsh Valleys and still in ex-works conditions, it emerges from the trees at Ystrad Mynach on 7 June with the 1R38 13:55 Fishguard to Rhymney service. It continued to work the Rhymney services for a further eighteen months before being placed into storage.
