A couple of weeks before its accident at Rhymney which resulted in the loco's withdrawal, 37408 Loch Rannoch arrives at Tirphil with the 2F14 09:13 Rhymney to Cardiff Central service on 16 July 2005. The loco has already been in the wars, note the damage above the left buffer. The original Loch Rannoch was 37012, which was obviously a Scottish allocated loco. It carried the name from 1982 until 1986, when the plates were transferred to 37408. Not really a very appropriate name for working in the Welsh valleys, something like Lake Bala would be more in keeping! |
