I didn't often get days of unbroken sunshine when I visited Scotland in search of Class 37s during the late 1990s. Therefore the climb up the hillside at Achallader on the morning of 22 July 1997 was well worth the effort to catch 37409 Loch Awe crossing the viaduct over Allt Coire Achaladair with the 1Y11 05:05 Edinburgh to Fort William ScotRail sleeper (21:30 ex Euston).
