Viewed from high on the hill to the south west of the town, 37412 Driver John Elliot has just passed through Lostwithiel station with the Pathfinder Tours 1Z37 08:15 Cardiff Central to Newquay 'Cornish Raider' railtour on 30 March 1996. This high vantage point clearly shows the still extensive track layout at this busy Cornish location. Just in front of the train the Fowey freight line can be seen diverging to the right. Unfortunately the perfect sunny conditions seen earlier in the day at the Severn Bridge and Tiverton Parkway hadn't persisted this far south!
