Bovine indifference at Kintradwell Links (near Brora). 37416 & 37427 hug the seashore, as they head south with the Regency Railcruises 1Z37 Wick to Inverness 'Cock o' the North' railtour on 23 May 1999. The name Links doesn't refer to a golf course, but is here used in its original meaning, referring to a rough grassy area between the sea and the land. The word is derived from the Anglo-Saxon word 'hlinc'. Note the seabirds circling above the locomotives. Whilst I was waiting I was persistently dive bombed by a pair of Oyster Catchers, who obviously had a nest nearby. |
