37417 Richard Trevithick was left at Machynlleth on the outward leg of the Pathfinder Tours 'Snowdonian' railtour on 20 May 2006, as only a single locomotive is allowed over the Barmouth Bridge. It is seen here paralleling the A470 at Carno along with sister loco 37411 Caerphilly Castle on the return 1Z49 16:22 from Pwllheli. Although the use of a long lens has emphasised the hills in the background, this is not the shot I had intended to take. I discovered on arrival at this location that my Canon 50mm f1.4 lens had suffered the inevitable broken focusing mechanism that this particular design is very prone to after even the most minor knock.
