37417 Highland Region was a surprise choice for the 6M14 14:47 Newport to Rugby coal on 22 May 1998. This is the only occasion that I saw a Class 37/4 on this working, which was more usually worked by a 37/7, so was worth recording despite the appalling light. The light was so bad that I had to use 1/250sec f4 on Fujichrome Provia 400. It was therefore lucky that the train was moving very slowly, but also explains the very limited depth of field, the result of using a Pentax 6x7 200mm lens wide open! |
