Sometimes it rains in Wales and sometimes it really rains! I had just photographed D172 with the Pathfinder Tours 'North Wales Coast Explorer' railtour at Rhyl on 26 August 1996, and it seemed a good idea to wait a few minutes to see 37417 Highland Region with the 1D69 12:18 Crewe to Bangor Regional Railways service. However, in those few minutes the weather really deteriorated, and 37417 pulled out of the station in a torrential downpour. Needless to say this was the August Bank Holiday!
