37418 East Lancashire Railway passes through Tame Bridge Parkway station on 13 June 1998 with the 1D57 20:15 Birmingham New Street to Holyhead service. Although obviously having just photographed the 37s, the photographers at the end of the platform were waiting for the Pathfinder Tours 'Birthday Bash' railtour, which at this point was due to feature a very unusual (especially at the time) pair of Class 73s. Unfortunately one of them derailed in Bescot yard, and so with no indication of how long the delay would be, I decided not to wait around. In the event the train passed here behind 73128 & 37675, over an hour late at 20:50. The tall bridge in the background is an aqueduct carrying the Tame Valley Canal over the line. It is very unusual in that the canal was built after the railway! |
