From the start of the winter 1997 timetable, several North Wales Class 37 worked passenger trains were extended south to Birmingham. One such is pictured passing Millmeece on 22 November 1997. 37421 is working the 1G97 10:48 Holyhead to Birmingham New Street. At the time an EWS liveried loco was still far from common and the combination of EWS red and Regional Railways coaches made a refreshing change.
