Unusual traction for the Venice Simplon Orient Express. Unbranded Loadhaul liveried 37516 rounds the curve on the approach to Seamer West Junction on a very dull 15 June 1997 with the Leeds to Scarborough VSOE. I doubt if any of the passengers appreciated just how unusual the choice of loco was, although ironically since its acquisition by West Coast Railways, and a repaint into sludge brown livery, it has been quite a common sight on luxury excursions. However, not so in 1997! |
