37611 & 37607 pass Sapperton with a single Network Rail radio test coach on 12 September 2010, whilst working the 1Q12 08:55 Derby RTC to Bristol Temple Meads. Even with this featherweight load the distinctive English Electric racket could be heard long before it came into sight, proving just how steep the gradient is at this point. As the train was running 15 minutes early, and would have to be held at Kemble until a down passenger train cleared the single line section to Swindon, there was easily enough time to get a second shot at Langley Burrell. This was despite the fact that it was a fair walk back to the car from this spot up a very steep and heavily overgrown footpath. |
