Still looking pristine, just two days after it was unveiled to the public in its new 'old' livery, 43002 Sir Kenneth Grange passes Baulking on 4 May 2016 with the 1A13 10:30 Bristol Temple Meads to Paddington GWR service. To celebrate 40 years of the iconic HST, the first production power car was chosen to be repainted into its original (and arguably the best) livery. Fittingly, it was named the train's designer, Sir Kenneth Grange, at the St Philips Marsh Open Day on 2 May. This picture makes an interesting comparison to my 1981 view of the same loco at the same spot. A lot has changed in 35 years, but now that 43002 is back in its original livery there is one constant. The steel piles either side of the track show that a monumental change is about to alter the view totally. |
