Almost three decades before it became the specially repainted power car that everybody wanted to photograph wherever it went, 43002 Top of the Pops approaches Circourt Bridge, Denchworth, on 8 May 1987 with the 1A39 10:35 Swansea to Paddington service. The loco lost its proper cast Top of the Pops nameplates the following year, but had a set of cheap looking reflective plates added in 1991, before these too were removed in 1996.
