Just over thirty years since being introduced onto the Great Western Mainline, the first production HST power car 43002 Techniquest was still going strong on 8 September 2006, when it was pictured approaching Compton Beauchamp with the 07:00 Swansea to Paddington service. The clear early morning autumn light prompted the use of a long lens to emphasize the reverse curves here, proving that Brunel's GWR main line is not completely featureless. The concrete footbridge in the background is on the site of Ashbury Crossing, near Shrivenham.
