Still giving excellent service after 34 years in traffic (over double the length of time the 'Westerns' plied this route), the first production HST power car, 43002 heads west past Denchworth on an intermittently sunny 16 September 2010 with the 1C16 13:30 Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads First Great Western service. Admittedly now with a different engine, this power car must have clocked up an astronomical mileage, and surely makes the class one of BR's best value for money decisions ever. |
