43002 Sir Kenneth Grange passes underneath Steventon roadbridge on 1 March 2017 with the 1C12 11:30 Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads GWR service. This bridge is the subject of a bitter feud between the locals, who want to preserve it, and Network Rail who wish to demolish it. The cause of all this is the hugely delayed electfrication of the Great Western Mainline. Note the two concrete filled mast bases on the left, and also the white sighting patch on the bridge, a remnant from the days of semaphore signalling. |
