43003 leads the 1B30 13:00 Paddington to Swansea service past Circourt Bridge, Denchworth on 8 May 1987. It seems to be loosing its former set number 253001 piecemeal, with just the 253 left on the front end. By this time they had long since been regarded as locomotives, and were no longer kept in their original sets. In fact, I had seen 253001's former partner (43002) heading in the same direction on a another train approximately an hour earlier.
