With a toot and a wave from the driver, 43003 Isambard Kingdom Brunel passes Frocester on 9 June 2012 with the 1Z33 08:10 Bristol Temple Meads to York First Great Western staff special. This was taking some of the company's employees for a day out at the Railfest 2012 celebrations at the National Railway Museum. As an ambassador for FGW's highly successful HST fleet, the two original production power cars were chosen, 43002 being on the rear of the train. This section of line between Westerleigh and Standish Junctions is not the normal stamping ground for FGW HSTs, as the company's normal stock on this route is Class 150 or 158 DMUs. |
